Conquering the California Alps: Harriman Law Sponsors the Legendary Death Ride

Each summer, the quiet mountain town of Markleeville, California transforms into a battleground of grit, endurance, and breathtaking scenery. Cyclists from around the world descend upon Alpine County to take part in the Tour of the California Alps – Death Ride®, one of the most iconic and challenging endurance cycling events in the United States. This year, Harriman Law is proud to stand behind the riders as an official sponsor of this legendary event.

What Makes the Death Ride So Epic?

Spanning 103 miles and climbing over 14,000 feet, the Death Ride is not for the faint of heart. Riders tackle six categorized climbs across three mountain passes—Monitor Pass, Ebbetts Pass, and the Pacific Grade—each offering steep grades and stunning views of the Sierra Nevada. With nearly 90% of the course closed to traffic, cyclists enjoy a safe and fully supported ride through some of California’s most rugged terrain.

More Than a Ride—It’s a Community

The Death Ride is more than a test of physical endurance; it’s a celebration of community, resilience, and the great outdoors. The event serves as a major fundraiser for the Alpine County Chamber of Commerce and local nonprofits, supporting the vibrant communities of Markleeville, Woodfords, Bear Valley, and Kirkwood. Riders, families, and spectators gather at Turtle Rock Park for a finish line festival filled with food, music, massage tents, and sponsor booths.
